The Holland Classis is called by God, sustained by prayer and empowered by the Holy Spirit to be the very presence of Christ in the Holland community. Our shared task is to serve cooperatively the Holland community, to support proactively the ministries of the classis and its churches, and to sow creatively new worshiping communities.
-Holland Classis Mission and Vision Statement
The Holland Classis is the organization that unites the pastors serving in Holland-area Reformed Church congregations, representatives of those congregations, ministers serving in areas of Christian ministry beyond the local congregations, and candidates enrolled to become ordained ministers or commissioned pastors. We are united in mission to the community, in support for each other, and in accountability to the values that unite us.
There are currently eighteen established churches that anchor the Classis, plus five new congregations emerging and maturing. In addition, ministers of the Classis are serving in areas of administration; chaplaincy (hospital, hospice, military, penal system, schools, senior-adult ministries, and workplace); community development; counseling; education; publishing, youth ministry; and service to the denomination.
